Anybody in Phoenix during the winter knows that our population swells due to retirees and those labelled "snow birds" arriving. Recently however, the Phoenix Metro Area was ranked as one of the most prominent area for retirees as no Surprise to many who are already here.
Although Scottsdale naturally tops the list there are many other area cities that made the list and for good reason. Scottsdale's only reason for not obtaining the #1 overall spot from Florida is likely due to the cost of living. It's a bit higher than most other areas.
Consideration was given to cities that have affordability, jobs, activities for seniors, quality of life and access to good health care. Emphasis was placed on soon-to-be retirees.
Scottsdale and surrounding cities have a lot of amenities that would attract retirees including, hiking, great dining, golf, access to good health care and great quality of life. Although Scottsdale gets most of the attention it was not even the only Arizona city to crack the top 10 as Peoria with it's great affordability factor stepped in to claim it's spot among the retiree elite as well.
Here is a list of the top cities for Arizona.
